How much does a coaching session cost?

Let’s open Pandora’s box…

The investment you make in a coaching session or in your coaching process, depends on your goal and some additional factors. From my perspective the main factors are:

Coach Training and certifications: it is important that your coach has a good and solid training. In terms of time, I would say that six to twelve months continuous training is a good starting point. Additionally, a coach associated to an national or international federation will often guarantee a certain level of professionalism and adherence to a set of standards.

Professional experience relevant to your goal. If you are looking into transitioning to a new role at work, you ideally should look for a coach that additionally, has industry experience and has held minimum amount of eight to ten years in positions of responsibility.

Coaching specialty: depending on the type of coaching you require, the coach will have a specific profile. If your goal is towards a life coaching issue, your investment will typically be lower than a goal towards an executive coaching issue.

In my opinion, the relevant question is not about how much does it cost. It is about how do you think coaching is going to help you. It is about whether you are ready for your coaching journey. It is about finding a coach that fulfills the requirements that your goal needs. It is about whether you think that your coach is going to help you close the gap from where you are to where you want to be. When all of it is clear to you, ask yourself if your coaching sessions is a “cost” or an “investment in yourself”?

In my opinion, a reasonable estimated cost for an hour of coaching would start at 150 pounds per hour.
